Ride ideas

Since Nichole is bored & I'm thinking about it, let's talk training rides! Mike said he'd take ideas, so here seems like a good place. I'd host a ride or two in the southern part of our region. I'm pretty blessed in that I have some roads with great shoulders in the area. Division (10th, or old 131) is great from county line to county line. Additionally 142nd is similar from Division West out to about 35th (further West no shoulder.) 142nd can get pretty busy, but Division is surprisingly quiet & a pretty ride.
I'll investigate loops, but both Wayland to Plainwell (and back) and Wayland to 142nd West to 35th (and back) are about 30 miles. Wayland all the way down to business 131 (heading into Kzoo) is a 50 mile round trip.
I'd also like doing the KalHaven or some mountain biking in Yankee Springs.

I like the idea of a south side ride. I also like the idea of another Montague ride--I'm sure DID and the Clarks and I can put together something pretty swell (and a post-ride pool party at our house perhaps?).

Owasippe Boy Scout Camp is good for mountain biking, too - I'm eager for warm, dry weather to get over there on my new bike.

Anyone interested in a night ride? Headlights, taillights, and back roads?

So since I don't do the ride -- all I do is donate -- I am trying to think of a way I can sort of experience it along with you. I think for every mile you do, I need to do a shot. I'll start training now. This weekend I'll do a ten shot stint to start to build up my duration. I'll keep you posted.

Moira, thank you so much for donating! We wouldn't have this great little group if it weren't for the great people who support us with donations. I look forward to seeing you at one of the team gatherings!

We are going to have to have a ride in Plymouth, MA, then Mike. I'm game. Moira - tell the Beach Club we'll be there after our 50 mile ride! :-)

And did - heck no. I'm not riding at night, when it's freezing outside.

Oh, my, no, not nowses. When it's 70° outside at night. I'm not THAT whacked out. Yet. And I don't have a good light (don't get me started on my growing bike light fetish, though.)

I got a tooth pulled this afternoon. I'm 25% less wise now. And I got Tylenol 3 with Codeine! Hurray!

The White Pine Trail is now paved all the way to Sand Lake. That makes a 36 mile round trip from our house. Might be a good early season ride before too many strollers come out.

Actually, I heard suggestion of a Chicago ride at some point. I'd be up for spending a weekend there with a ride mixed in someplace.
Maybe we can integrate did's comment & ride on lower Wacker with our bike lights blinkin'! It'd be kinda like DV - fun to see who survives!

I am afraid to DRIVE on Lower Wacker, let alone ride it on two wheels. No way.

Chicago is also good for an early season ride, because it's flat as a board. We can ride the lakefront up to the North Branch Trail. I can make us up a ride of any length--as long as you're happy with it having zero hills.

Sounds fun - if I can swing the timing with Marathon Girl I'm definitely in.
