So next Sunday, the day after the team party (which you'll be attending, right? I'm makin' baklava!), we have a potential group activity. Three of our teammates will be engaged in that uniquely self-abusive form of cycling known as cyclocross racing, starting at around 11 am at Manhattan Park in Grand Rapids. Howsabout we all grab our cowbells and caravan over to watch Ross, Jasker, and of course Coach Mike get themselves throughly dirty?

"Uniquely self-abusive"....you say that like it's a bad thing!
How long do they usually last?
A 'cross race is by design short-n-furious. The 3 of us mentioned in Did's post are in the "B" class, so we race @ noon and it'll be about 45 minutes. The big boys in the "A" class will go off @ 1:00pm for approx an hour. The course will be designed to torture the riders and be spectator friendly. Some dirt, some pavement, an awful run-up (where you hafta dismount and push/drag/carry your bike up some gawdawful slope)and plenty o' opportunities to "stuff it", "take a soil sample" or "have a yard sale". (I.E. crash your brains out). Being the ultra-serious and competitive 'cross racer that you would expect me to be - I'll be engaged in VERY SERIOUS preparation for this event. My coach and I have decided after careful consideration that the best course of action will be for me to stay up WAY too late and eat WAY too much yummy food and party WAY too late w/ my buds on JDRF's Coolest team. It's a hard ilfe, but whatterya gonna do?
Well, gracias for the extremely detailed answer!
